Nova Scotia 55+ Games Society is Recruiting for Volunteers to Join Our Board

On a volunteer basis the Society as a non-profit, serves to promote the participation of Nova Scotia Seniors, age 55 years and older, in recreational, sporting, cultural, educational and creative activities throughout the Province.

The Society engenders a sense of community spirit and provincial pride by providing the opportunity and catalyst for bringing seniors, their families and Nova Scotia communities at large together to become involved at the local, regional, provincial and national levels in the Senior Games.

Being on the NS 55+ Board of Directors offers an opportunity for you to inspire change and provide governance to the organization and its members. You will influence the organization in dynamic ways and help to ensure the 55+ community in Nova Scotia improve their quality of life by staying active mentally, socially and physically.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Committed to sharing the goals of the NS 55+Games Society in your region and throughout Nova Scotia.

  • Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of board governance, policy, finance and a strong advocacy for the Games.

  • Experience in community development, communications, wellness and events both active and passive.

  • Willingness to serve on Committees and attend two/three Board meetings per year as well as Committee meetings by teleconference.

  • Prepared to represent the Society and share information about the Games in your region.
